THE CURIOUS POLITIC THING. After International Business class, i must post this!

DISSOLUTION OF THE CAN (Comunidad Andina de Naciones)

Is it Colombian fault?

One of the most important news yesterday was about the dissolution of the CAN and how, Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela, blames Colombia to be guilty of this situation. He considers that the Free Trade Agreement that Colombia with United States negotiated and accepted the last month will disturb CAN performance, because of new arancelarians politics and preferences.

But, I think it’s not really the reason.

Venezuela, as we know has a relative economic power, because petroleum, but not a politic one in the continent, neither in the region. All the strategies he’s putting on the table are created in order to adquire country partners against United States influence in South America.

Chavez has a deep fixation with United States that is not taking a good direction. And it will be the same as long as Venezuela owns petroleum reserves that obviously are not eternal.

Considering the ideological tendency right now in Latin America, where most of the countries are managed from the left-democratic wing, is evident that there’s a resistance. But that only means that those countries have politic autonomy and are playing their game apart.

The great dilemma is, that at the same moment, Venezuela is becoming part of MERCOSUR, the most compacted trade boundary in Latin America, constituted by Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

So? What’s the problem with our Free Trade Agreement? I’m not saying that’s the best of the best and I completely agree with it. But it’s a Colombian issue!

To conclude I want to give an advice, explain something and be clear in another thing :

1. The Advice:

Venezuela should invest in education, industry, health; not just buying doubts of countries.

2. The Explanation:

There are still 5 years left to be out of CAN. It won’t be easy. And in five years, I hope we will be better. ( I will be working, and doing something to contribute, so relax my friends)

3. And be clear on this:

I see The Free Trade Agreement with United States as an opportunity to be more competitive in the international market. We have to change the weaknesses into opportunities, start to change our minds and educate ourselves. It will be hard, BUT GOODS THINGS COME AFTER BIG EFFFORTS.

That was the political post of Lucia Torres.

If you have any questions or if you completely disagree, please make the comment!

If I don’t find any it will mean that I own the TRUTH. :)

THE SONG OF THE MONTH

Mirándote yo he pasado noches que no sabrás,
mirándote he pasado más de mil noches que nunca sabrás.

Back to the Uni: new challenges

This semester seems to be very nice; a lot about international law, business, my lovely french classes, but also some random stuffs(jajaja). The coolest thing of this semester is a project of some students of International Relations, in which i'm part, that's about United States Outer Politic, focusing in the latinamerican issue. We are an official Research group of Universidad del Norte and we hope to present the project on august.
As reserachers we aim to get a new concept of international relations and propose a structure of thinking that the region must have. We are young, students but able to make changes. I would like to be reminded as a change agent ( sound familiar my friend AIESECer ??? ). We need break some wrong paradigms and create new bridges between the theories and the reality of Latin America.

Hello Everybody, i'm back !

Some friends have asked if i'm dead . . .¿? (jeje) because since last year there were no posts from me. But people, i'm back and with a lot to say ! A new semester, new projects in AIESEC, two excellent confereces and a lot of loveeeeeeeeeeeeeee !

So, we there will be a lot to share, to laugh at and cry ! I love you so much !
